Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Analytics, Strategic Insights & Data Analytics Department, Strategy & Insights Division

職務内容/Job duties ■ Overview
The mission of the Strategy and Insights (S&I) Division is to contribute to the sustainable growth of McD Japan through uncovering meaningful insights by analyzing very rich 1st party data, research data, as well as syndicated / 3rd party data and synthesizing them into strategic plan by working as a thought partner to Japan senior management team.
McDonald’s Japan has very rich transaction data (70MM / month) as well as app user data (25MM MAU / 16MM with geo-location data) but there are still significant opportunities to leverage its value. It is company’s top priority as well as S&I’s mission to harness power of data to transform towards an agile, future able, data-driven organization. We are expanding Strategic Insights & Data Analytics Department within S&I Division to take on this critical mission and looking for a strong data professional to take the driving seat in taking the company to a data driven future, who will have direct visibility from our c-suite as well as global functional leaders.

【Job Summary】
You will lead following critical initiatives leveraging our external partners of data architect / engineer / science, as well as working closely with cross functional stakeholders across McDonald’s Japan and Global teams. These initiatives are acknowledged as mission critical for the sustainability of McDonald’s business in future by shaping the data strategy architecture for the company that will stand for decades.

■Data Insights Enhancement -You will be the leader of this initiative
・ Enhance our analytical platform by ingesting unstructured data, consolidating data masters to enable automation and simplification of manual work.
・ Leverage advanced modeling and machine learning to improve the forecast accuracy of 100+ new product launches we do every year.
■Enterprise Data Strategy - You will lead this initiative with support from Director
* Innovations: Develop new ways to harness the power of data for agile and strategic decision making, leveraging your own skills as well as that of Data Science external partners
・ Identify and prioritize valuable problems to be solved through data.
・ Agilely proof the concepts working with external partners and recommend what to be scaled through business cases
* Data Management Scheme: Define jobs to be done /requisite for data eco-system and work with Technology team to develop a blue print.
* Data Governance: Define data governance rule / principle and manage it leveraging external partner.

・ Japan Technology, Digital, Operations, Restaurant Development, and Restaurant Solutions team
・ Japan Strategy and Insights team, especially Business Insights team who does the forecasting

・ Manage / work with external partners of data architect / engineer / science. McDonald’s work with external partners as integral part of our “three-legged-stool” model where we source latest and greatest expertise from external partners in order to be agile and efficient. You will leverage and nurture our external partners just as your own team members.



 
応募資格/Qualifications 【Requirements】
Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Analytics requires excellence in both business and data expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities to lead the enterprise-wide transformation / change management with support from Director.

■Business Capabilities
・ Based on a deep understanding of the brand and business model, be able to make sense of the data (why these results) and suggest what actions the business should take.
・ Experiences in working in B2C industries / retails with good understanding of consumers behaviors in B2C / retail context. Experience in the food service industry is a plus but not mandatory.
・ Experiences in setting up or operating data-driven strategy and decision-making processes
・ Experiences leading data / digital transformation projects
・ Native level Japanese and Business level English (required for working with Global and Supplier)

■Data Expertise
・ Programming language: SQL, Python or similar
・ Experiences with data cloud services (ideally BigQuery) or similar
・ Experiences with data transformation engine (DBT) or similar
・ Experiences with data visualization tools (ideally Tableau) or similar
・ Experiences with AI algorithm development, leveraging machine learning, language models
・ Experiences in building forecast models
・ Ability to quickly grasp of data schema / structure even when it is chaotic
・ Experiences leveraging suppliers of data architect / engineer / science

Candidate must demonstrate strong strategic thinking, leadership, project management capabilities and excellent communication (linguistic and interpersonal), ability to debate, a self-starting attitude to absorb / leverage new information, and potential to grow into directorial roles.

■ Education / Experience
・ Bachelor’s degrees in computer science, Statistics or similar fields
・ 4+ years of professional experience in data science, data / digital transformation project management
・ People management experience would be a plus

■ Problem Solving / Thought Leadership
・ Future looking and innovative thinker who appreciate current state but doesn’t get constrained by it
・ Proven ability to identify key discussion points for ambiguous problems, analyze tremendous and various data sources, structuralize complicatedly linking information to extract meaningful insights
・ Superior analytical and quantitative skills; experience using BI tools, data and metrics to simulate / confirm
・ Excellent planning skills to achieve ideal goals with feasible timeline by the most direct way

■Communication Skill
・ Ability to adjust communications to technical vs non-technical audiences.
・ Ability to communicate complex technical matters to non-technical c-suite managements, in a simple, concise, but engaging / persuading manner
・ Oral communication skills to concisely convey essential information and insights that audiences require (Japanese must, English preferred)
・ Written communication skills to describe highly complicated / technical matters in a simple way for non-technical members to easily understand (Both Japanese and English is a must)
・ Fluent level Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent), and business level English reading and writing is a must. Speaking is preferable.

・ Ability to lead a team composed of team / people across functions with various agendas
・ Ability to orchestrate vast range of interdependent tasks with both attention to details as well as big picture perspectives, with agility and flexibility to course correct as things go, to get to the goal in most effective manner.
・ Excellent in reporting the progress to stakeholders in a way that keeps them engaged and gains their support
・ Great in managing external partners and have they do quality jobs in a timely manner

待遇/Salary & Benefits ■雇用形態
正社員 ※試用期間あり(6ヶ月、同条件)

■勤務時間
フレックスタイム制
通常の勤務時間は9時〜18時としていますが、月間所定労働時間(※)の範囲内であれば、深夜時間(22:00~5:00)と公休日を除き、柔軟に勤務時間を決めて働くことができます。
※月間所定労働時間=8時間×1か月の勤務日数
